Tropicana Atlantic City celebrated its 20 Year Anniversary of The Quarter on November 23, 2024. The celebration kicked off the day before when the city’s Mayor, Marty Small Sr., gave a speech during the inaugural Christmas tree lighting ceremony inside the Caesars Entertainment hotel, commemorating the hotel that’s known as the premier destination of entertainment in Atlantic City.
“I had many legendary nights here at The Quarter, but The Quarter truly represented a game-changing time here in the great city of Atlantic City. Not only did we have a successful casino that transformed into the largest hotel in Atlantic City, but the restaurants, the shops, the nightlife created a new dynamic in Atlantic City and other casinos followed too,” Mayor Small shared with the crowd.
He then read off the proclamation from the Mayor’s Office, in which he noted that on November 23, 2004, The Quarter became Atlantic City’s first large-scale shopping and dining experience and, soon after, “transformed the landscape of Atlantic City casinos.”
The total construction cost of the Old Havana-themed shopping center was initially $280 million. Years later, in the spring of 2015, the New Jersey hotel underwent another massive renovation that cost $50 million. This included renovating its spectacular multimedia light and sound show, adding AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness (Tilton Fitness has taken over since then) and renovating its North Tower hotel rooms and casino.
Dining options at The Quarter include Carmine’s Italian Restaurant, a popular New York City-based family-style restaurant, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar, which serves authentic Cuban cuisine, and The Palm, a high-end steakhouse featuring caricature-adorned walls.
With more than 25 shops under one roof, The Quarter includes popular women’s fashion stores, such as Francesca’s Collections and White House Black Market, and gift shops, such as Time After Time, Odie & Ott’s and Swarovski.
After a long day of shopping and dining (or maybe gambling at the casino), Tropicana has something for everyone when it comes to nightlife: from a ’70s, ’80s and ’90s dance party at Boogie Nights to a neon-lit club with rotating DJs and live performances at Kiss Kiss Nightclub.
The Quarter is also home to South Jersey’s largest IMAX Theater. The 275-seat state of the art theater has a five-and-a-half story screen and 12,000 watts of surround sound. Movie goers can check out the newest Hollywood blockbuster films and IMAX 3D releases. Haven’t seen Wicked yet? IMAX is the way to go for the nearly three-hour musical.
The tree lighting ceremony on November 22 not only kicked off the 20 Year Anniversary, it also kicked off Atlantic City’s Tinseltown Holiday Experience, which is presented by the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA).
Around town, visitors and locals can grab a ticket to the Atlantic City Ballet’s holiday performance at Caesars, indulge in decadent desserts at Bar 32 Chocolate’s Christmas Experience, take a stroll on the famous boardwalk to see the Deck The Hall: Festival of Trees, or even grab a holiday-themed cocktail at the Holidaze Pop-Up Bar at Tropicana’s Tango’s Lounge.
