Unless you live under a rock, you must’ve heard about pop star Sabrina Carpenter’s new music video for her song, Please Please Please. The song is from her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet, which is slated to release next month. The video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, tells an exciting story of her falling head over heels for a not-so-good man with a troubled past but she’s willing to take a chance on him despite his flaws. Toxic men? Say no more.
As they say, it’s the things we do for love. While her Barbiecore persona is entering the savage era, Sabrina too is breaking free from her Disney past, and her latest music video is a far cry from her Girl Meets World days. The next Mothership, we think.
Sabrina Carpenter Scores Number One on Billboard Hot 100
The 25-year-old is making a name for herself in the pop music industry. Her last single, Espresso, was a viral hit, and now Please Please Please has kept the momentum going. It has topped the charts on the Billboard Hot 100 — her first time ever.
The song, co-written with Amy Allen and Jack Antonoff, has beaten Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s I Had Some Help to bag the top spot. According to Billboard, with over 50.9 million streams, 3.2 million radio plays, and 7,000 downloads in the United States in the tracking week, Please Please Please is a clear winner. Island Records is also celebrating its first number one song in nearly five years (after Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s Señorita), all thanks to, you know who.
Sabrina Carpenter’s New Music Video Features Her Real-Life Beau — Screams!
Sabrina sure isn’t afraid of taking risks it – not only did she release the music video for her latest single, but it also featured a surprising co-star: Barry Keoghan. That’s right, the Saltburn star, who is her real-life beau. Bold moves, there. Sabrina Carpenter’s new music video has the Hollywood star playing a character who keeps getting arrested and Brina tries to keep him out of trouble. We love a red flag, any day. The lyrics even include an obvious effin’ cute reference to Barry.
For the uninitiated, the couple recently made their official red-carpet debut together at the Met Gala. They looked stunning, with the popstar in a dazzling gown by Oscar de la Renta while the Irish actor was styled in a Burberry suit.
Recently, the director, Bardia Zeinali, spoke to IndieWire about Sabrina Carpenter’s new music video, too. Zeinali revealed that the Eternals star kept on rehearsing the scene the day before filming so he could nail it in one take for Sabrina’s sake. *Ugh*
“He was really aware that it’s Sabrina’s video, it’s Sabrina’s day, he didn’t want to be the one that’s holding up a shot or taking too much time or space,” Zeinali told the outlet. Could it get any cuter? We think not.
