Released in theatres on Friday, August 9, 2024, the film ‘It Ends With Us’ is based on American author Colleen Hoover’s best-known 2016 novel of the same name. Despite its portrayal of an abusive relationship, the novel enjoyed much fanfare, leading to the movie adaptation, which became a quick hit among moviegoers.
Directed by Justin Baldoni and produced by Blake Lively, the melodrama follows flower shop owner Lily Blossom Bloom (played by Blake Lively), and her relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (played by Justin Baldoni). Things take an unlikely turn when she reconnects with her childhood sweetheart, Atlas Corrigan (played by Brandon Sklenar). Hasan Minhaj, Jenny Slate, Isabela Ferrer, and Alex Neustaedter also play pivotal roles.

‘It Ends With Us’s Hollywood treatment was unreliably relatable for bringing spousal violence and traumatic past to the forefront. Although the movie did make a handful of improvisations to Colleen Hoover’s source material, it was praised for its faithful narration and character portrayals of visionary florist Lily Bloom, hot neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid, and Bloom’s former boyfriend, Atlas Corrigan.

The novel ‘It Ends With Us’ reached #1 in 2022 on the New York Times bestsellers list. Ever since its release, the book has faced criticism on several fronts, including romanticizing domestic violence, representation of generational abuse, as well as marketing it.
Blake Lively & her Key Lime Pie
American actress Blake Lively was effortlessly the key individual in bringing ‘It Ends With Us’ to life. After her casting as Lily Blossom Bloom was announced in January 2023, the 36-year-old’s many traits like acting, producing, and fashion sense were subtly utilized.
Just before the movie dropped, like many promotional activities, Blake Lively gave her fans one thing that would make them feel a little closer to their favourite star – she baked her “secret” Key Lime Pie (for Vogue) – and, it looked delicious.
On August 7, 2024, the publication shared a video of Blake baking her version of her mom’s signature key lime pie, and, dare we say it was pure chaos. Giving the recipe a personal touch, the Vogue cover star was seen struggling with a very unfamiliar and definitely “not her’s” food processor. Also, there’s no real measurement. “It’s really to taste,” she says adding, “Just pay close attention and then guess.” Blake being the perfectionist that she is, brought her very quirky humour to the video while telling the stories about her mom, children, and thinking of moving her family to Capri. While talking about ‘It Ends With Us’, the actress also revealed that her new film’s wardrobe was somewhat inspired by her best friend and part-Palestinian model Gigi Hadid, and her husband and ‘Deadpool’ actor Ryan Reynolds.
