Milan Fashion Week kicked off with a splash, showing Tod’s Spring-Summer 2025 Collection. Creative Director Matteo Tamburini revealed a line that whispers luxury while highlighting the craftsmanship and chic designs.
This show wasn’t just about designer clothes; it was also about the art behind them. A stunning sculpture of giant hands, representing Tod’s artisanal roots, made the runway feel like a celebration of everything that makes Italian fashion so special. From flowing dresses to comfy yet elegant jackets, each piece tells a story.
Artistry Met Effortless Chic
At Milan’s Macchi foundry, artist Lorenzo Quinn unveiled a stunning sculpture: two giant plaster hands holding crossed leather bands. Quinn explained that this piece represents Tod’s craftsmanship, Italian skills, and the value of hands-on work. Surrounding it, Tod’s artisans, dressed in white, were busy hand-stitching the brand’s iconic Gommino moccasins.
At a lively event hosted by designer Walter Tamburini, the theme was ‘Artisanal Intelligence’—a way of representing that everyone’s contributions really matter. Tod’s CEO, Diego Della Valle, chimed in, highlighting just how special each artisan’s handiwork is. While leather is a staple for Tod’s, this collection was lighter and breezier (apt for summer). Tamburini was inspired by a trip along the Mediterranean coast, starting in Italy, of course. He brought a relaxed vibe to the shapes and materials, with playful designs like stripes on crisp cotton and inside-out checks on airy skirts and tops.
The trench coats really stole the show, updated in both cotton and leather for a stylish yet comfy look. About those windbreakers – made from super light napa—because who doesn’t want to look fab even when the wind picks up!
The accessories were bold, ranging from oversized sandals to trendy bags made from fancy leather, including a stylish bucket bag that Naomi Campbell wore like a pro. The classic gommino loafers also turned into sabots with shiny gold rings—just the right touch to match the beautiful dresses. With this collection, Tamburini capacity as a director reflected in his sync with Tod’s style while pushing the boundaries on fabrics and fits. ‘Artisanal Intelligence’ brought a spin to the runway, proving that fashion can be both playful and practical. Each piece said something—perfect for those summer days when you want to feel light and be on fleek.
Glamour, Style, and Star Power
Star power was also on full display as fashion icons Naomi Campbell and Irina Shayk took the spotlight. Naomi looked like a million bucks in a cream halter neck tunic and white pants. She topped it off with cream leather heeled boots and a matching crocodile bag—now that’s what we call fancy.
Irina wore a black maxi dress with a stylish belt. Her big grey wool coat added a cosy, chic touch. As these models strutted along the runway, the audience was all eyes and applause, as were we.
Vogue’s Anna Wintour made an entrance in a vibrant red and pink floral dress, topped with a burgundy leather coat. She paired this eye-catching outfit with orange leather boots. The way she carried the fit clearly spoke to the idea that fashion knows no age limits. Other stars included Kelly Rutherford, who looked stunning in a chic grey outfit and a fur-lined trench. Even Olympian Imani-Lara Lansiquot swapped her sporty look for a fabulous brown fur coat. The runway was truly a glamorous blend of styles and personalities, all while celebrating the art of fashion.
