There are stories born from an encounter, and Motel a Miio’s is one of them. It all began in 2016, when two friends from Munich, during a trip to Portugal, fell deeply in love with local ceramics and their imperfect charm. From that intuition, a simple and authentic brand takes shape, one that is today among the most recognized in the European lifestyle scene: a celebration of creativity, passion, and craftsmanship.
Motel a Miio ceramics are handmade and hand-painted in Portugal, where each plate, cup, or bowl is born from the skilled gesture of artisans who have passed down the art of ceramics for generations. Each piece is unique, the result of fair and sustainable work, and thus imperfection is an added value. To this is joined contemporary aesthetics and respect for tradition. The soft lines and vibrant colors tell of a luminous and timeless Mediterranean, where summer seems never to end.
Today, the company counts approximately thirty permanent shops throughout Europe, flanked by temporary pop-up stores that continuously renew the creative offering. Leading it is an entirely female team, composed of over forty women—some of whom are third-generation artisans—who have transformed their passion into a labor of love. The commitment of each of them is reflected in the quality of materials, in the attention to detail, and in the philosophy that permeates every collection: accessible beauty, respect for the environment, and authenticity without artifice.
Motel a Miio’s range of tableware and home objects is a hymn to Portuguese vitality: plates in oceanic hues, cups that recall Lisbon’s light, bowls in pastel colors that bring summer to the table all year round. Each object is made to last: the ceramics, while entirely handmade, are dishwasher-safe, microwave-suitable, and resistant to time.
With a sophisticated yet spontaneous design, these pieces manage to merge minimalism and warmth, bohemian style and tropical accents, becoming protagonists of elegant table settings and photographs with a natural soul. Because every table tells a story, and Motel a Miio’s is made of journeys, skilled hands, and Portuguese light.
