There’s a stellar piece of news for all our movie buffs – the Russo Brothers are back at it after diving deep into the gritty crime scene with Cherry and getting their spy game on in The Gray Man. They’re now switching gears for a rad road trip flick and their latest venture is The Electric State, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi film that’s going to blow your mind. Based on Simon Stålenhag’s awesome graphic novel, this Netflix project features a star-studded cast – talk about jam-packed entertainment, this and many more entertainment stories that you can choose from.
What if it’s the mid-90s, and America has become a robot-filled wasteland? Humans and AI are in between a full-on civil war. Millie Bobby Brown is set to play Michelle, a young girl on a mission to find her missing brother. She’s not alone, though. Enter Chris Pratt as Keats, a smuggler with a questionable moustache and a heart of gold. Together, they’ll take on rogue robots, mysterious conspiracies, and probably a few existential crises along the way. With that retro vibe and a killer soundtrack, The Electric State looks like the perfect blend of nostalgia and adventure. Circle March 14, 2025, on your calendars—you won’t want to miss this ride. Watch the teaser, here.
A Stellar Cast and Compelling Concept of The Electric State
The Electric State has a seriously impressive cast. Millie Bobby Brown, fresh off her Stranger Things fame, is set to shine as the brave Michelle. She’s joined by Chris Pratt, who’s always a blast and has mastered the art of being charmingly roguish. The film also stars the legendary Giancarlo Esposito as Colonel Marshall Bradbury, alongside Stanley Tucci (god, we love him), Ke Huy Quan, and even Brian Cox. This cast could probably take on a robot army themselves. The plot gets even thicker as Michelle searches for her brother amid the chaos of a robot uprising. It’s a world where the machines we once relied on have turned against us. With stunning visuals inspired by Stålenhag’s artwork, expect jaw-dropping scenes of dystopian landscapes and rusting robots.
Behind the Scenes of The Electric State with the Russo Brothers
The Russo Brothers, best known for their blockbuster hits like Avengers: Endgame, have been cooking up this project since 2017. They’ve teamed up with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who’ve worked on many Marvel gems and boy, did they cook. The Electric State isn’t just your average road trip movie. It’s a crazy blend of humour, heart, and sci-fi chaos.
Plus, it’s coming from AGBO, the Russo brothers’ production company. Oh, and the soundtrack? A sick, slowed-down version of Oasis’ Champagne Supernova that hits different. We sure can’t afford to drop the ball, can you?
