Tucked into the golden coastline of Sant’Agnello—where the sun kisses the sea and every sunset feels like a story—Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento rises like a quiet hymn to elegance.
Originally built in 1912 as a private residence, the hotel found new life in the post-war years under the care of Signora Antonietta Lauro, sister of the renowned shipping magnate Achille Lauro. Her legacy of quiet grandeur still lingers in every corner, balancing heritage with modernity in one of the coast’s most quietly alluring enclaves—removed from the tourist flurry of Sorrento’s centre, yet moments away from all its wonder.

With just 55 rooms and 6 design-forward suites, the hotel invites guests into a world of high-touch hospitality and timeless style. Each space—honoured at the LIV Hospitality Design Awards—is a tribute to local craftsmanship, drawing on native woods, Vietri ceramics, Vesuvian stone, and cool-toned marble. The palette echoes the Mediterranean itself: deep marine blues, sun-washed sand, and the vibrant greens of wild coastal gardens.

A signature offering? The hotel’s private yachts—an invitation to explore the coast by sea, in full cinematic style. Choose between the Princess Valeri, a 14-metre vision of sleek elegance, or the Gozzo Amare, a vintage vessel that channels the soul of the Amalfi coast. Captained by seasoned skippers, these curated journeys feel less like tours and more like whispered secrets passed from the sea.
2024 marks a new chapter with the opening of Terrazza Mediterraneo Italian Bistrot, a sunlit escape just across from the hotel in Piazza Marinella. More than a restaurant, it’s an ode to slowness—a place where aperitivo hours stretch lazily into golden evenings.

Here, Chef Alessandro Bisconti reimagines Italian classics with a contemporary flair, using hand-selected ingredients from across the country. The result? A sensory voyage rooted in tradition, served with a view that stuns at every hour of the day.
The hotel’s culinary landscape continues across its grounds, from the Vesuvio Panoramic Restaurant, with sweeping views and Campanian haute cuisine, to the Aqua Pool Lounge, a sun-drenched grill bar by the water.
There’s also Vista Sky Bar, a rooftop oyster & champagne bar with live music, and Oltremare Lounge Bar, where creative cocktails meet the finest local wines.

Sustainability, too, is woven into the story. With a GSTC certification for conscious tourism and the coveted 2024 Michelin Key for hospitality, Hotel Mediterraneo quietly enters the future while honouring its roots.

And in 2025, a new chapter begins—with the launch of a plastic-free amenity line in collaboration with Luce di Sorrento, a beloved local brand crafting skincare from essential oils and the lemons that scent this coast.
It’s a small gesture that lingers—like the last light of golden hour, or the taste of fresh lemon sorbet under a Sorrentine sky. An Italian dream, softly unfolding.
