Last June, on the occasion of the 2025 Italian Open, La Dolce Vita Orient Express – Special Partner of the event – unveiled its first itinerary designed exclusively for golf enthusiasts. From October 2025, golf enthusiasts can experience a new way to enjoy Italian golf courses, elevating Italy’s status as a premier golf destination and celebrating the country’s rich sporting heritage through a refined and immersive journey. A unique encounter between sport and slow travel, this experience embodies the essence of Italian elegance, both on and off the green.
Following its inaugural journey on April 4 this year, La Dolce Vita Orient Express marks a new chapter in Italian rail tourism, offering travellers an exclusive experience that fully embraces the essence of golf in Italy. It gives the opportunity to visit and play in exclusive golf courses in different regions of the country in just a few days.
Northern Greens Journey
Northern Greens will be the first curated golf itinerary, promising more than just premium fairways but offering a new concept of golf tours blended with la dolce vita style. The journey begins at the station: a warm welcome is waiting for you at the exclusive La Dolce Vita Lounge at Rome’s Ostiense Station. In this private setting, timeless Italian glamour meets effortless sophistication. From there, the adventure starts at the legendary Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, host of the 2023 Ryder Cup. With its green views over the Eternal City and, of course, over its immeasurable beauties.
The itinerary then glides through Italy’s lush heartlands to Franciacorta Golf Club, nestled among the vineyards of Italy’s sparkling top wine region. Here, precision and patience on the green are rewarded with a glass of the region’s celebrated bubbly—a perfect pairing of finesse and flavour. Next, the tour ascends into the wooded elegance of Royal Park I Roveri near Turin, one of Europe’s most prestigious private clubs, surrounded by La Mandria Natural Park, a royal Savoy residence that now stands proudly as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Whether you’re playing a round of golf or enjoying a classic Martini aperitivo afterwards, this place captures the relaxed and refined spirit of Italian leisure.
Guests may then choose between two unforgettable locations. The first: Antognolla Golf Club, an Umbrian gem framed by castle ruins and cypress-dotted hills, where medieval mystique meets modern luxury. The second: the restorative sanctuary of Terme di Saturnia Natural SPA & Golf Resort, where thermal springs and holistic treatments mitigate soul and body after days of vivid competition.
Culinary Temptation on Board
Every detail is meticulously curated—even the pleasures of the palate are treated with the utmost seriousness by the team of three-Michelin-starred Chef Heinz Beck. Handpicked to craft menus that rediscover the essence of each destination, Chef Beck artfully blends Italy’s rich culinary heritage with a contemporary twist. Each dish is paired with a refined selection of wines that narrates the story of the local terroir, creating a symphony of perfectly balanced flavours.
From the moment guests arrive at each destination, they are cuddled in a world of curated elegance—warm welcomes and gourmet interludes served quite literally on the green. It’s a seamless fusion of refined play and the timeless allure of Italian excellence. With every swing and every sip, Northern Greens is more than a golf journey—it’s a celebration of Italian way of enjoying life.
Designed by Dimorestudio
The interiors of the train seamlessly blend cinematic elements with carefully curated details, striking a perfect harmony to create an atmosphere of sophistication, while maintaining a distinct Italian essence. The cabins present an intimate mood balanced with convivial elements. In this project, Milan-based Dimorestudio brings its visionary approach to create interiors that are both elegant and permanently memorable.
Walnut wood, brushed brass, and sumptuous velvet set the tone for the train’s exquisitely appointed cabins, wrapped in a colour palette that evokes the effortless glamour of the fabulous Sixties. Custom-designed lighting elements, inspired by the same iconic era, cast a warm, nostalgic glow—seamlessly blending vintage allure with contemporary sophistication.
As the designers note “Balancing history with a contemporary spirit, the train has been designed with detailed–though never ostentatious–luxury, and gives the impression of having always existed.”
La Dolce Vita Orient Express: An Ode to Italy on Board
Six impeccably designed trains. Eight enchanting itineraries. Thirty-one artfully appointed cabins hosting just sixty-two privileged guests. This is not merely travel—it’s an invitation to step into a world where elegance reigns and every detail whispers indulgence.
Inspired by the golden age of Italian glamour, La Dolce Vita Orient Express is a tribute to the 1960s—an era defined by freedom, pleasure, and bold artistic spirit. The train journeys combine breathtaking views with emotional moments through contemporary elegance to create an eternal atmosphere that celebrates the joy of living. Prepare to embark on a journey unlike any other—where the dream is only a keyboard away.
