If you are in the mood to binge-watch this weekend, we have the perfect recommendation for you. Ever since its debut on the streaming giant Netflix, the American romantic comedy television series ‘No Body Wants This’ has brought a meltdown on the internet. Why you ask? Come find out; this and other entertainment stories for maximal fun-gasm. Premiered on September 26, 2024, ‘Nobody Wants This’ is the latest meet-cute romantic comedy show that has finally fulfilled the dreams of romantics.
Starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as Joanne an agnostic sex podcaster who wants to experience a serious relationship but is also afraid of getting her heart broken, and Noah, a newly single but “very hot” Rabbi who is just a green flag respectively, has propelled to be everyone’s liking. Can a goodbye kiss lead you to find the love of your life? In this case, yep. Joanne and Noah, however you see were a weird pair, it’s not us saying, but about everyone in their lives and even them, not one but at many points. Brody’s Noah being a beloved young rabbi of his community has his dreams and career set. However, his fresh breakup with clingy Rebecca somehow leads him to a party where he meets adult podcaster Joanne, who is a non-Jewish and nonbeliever in god.
From play-along and undeniable rizz to flirting and amusing humour, Joanne and Noah hit it off as they walk out of the party together. Their differing outlooks on life almost had them go separate ways until a steamy kiss. They soon began dating in hiding (mostly on Noah’s part) but their starcrossed pairing and unavoidable skepticism from family and friends doesn’t stop them from going all out. Noah being a witty human and rabbi who can openly curse had Joanne captivated. In their relationship, he was definitely not like anyone else (Spoiler: she was lesbian for a month) she had dated before. His “I can handle you,” and “It would kill me to break your heart,” became the assurance that not only Joanne but all of us needed in this dating multiverse. Her being a shiksa was the only thing that was concerning.
Created by Erin Foster, ‘Nobody Wants This’ also perfectly explores Noah and Joanne’s relationship with their respective families. Noah’s mother Bina (Tovah Feldshuh) and sister-in-law Esther (Jackie Tohn) showed their resentment for Joanne, except for his goofy older brother Sasha (Timothy Simons) and father Ilan (Paul Ben-Victor). Whereas, Joanne’s relationship with her sister-slash-cohost Morgan (Justine Lupe) was thoroughly tested after the latter saw her sister’s relationship becoming a threat to their podcast business. Although the show’s portrayal of Judaism caused some trouble, they made sure not to force-feed the religion to the audience. Keeping the controversies aside, ‘Nobody Wants This’ has become the epitome of modern romance and an answer to what people might be searching for. This 2000s and millennial romance is off the charts.
For the unversed, the ten-episode series ‘Nobody Wants This’ has been renewed for Season 2. The news came around two weeks after the show’s premiere on Netflix. “Girls” alums Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan will be joining the series as showrunners and executive producers. Mazel Tov!
