A Dreamy Getaway At Sangam Farms: Slow Living In The Heart Of Bhilwara, Rajasthan

There are places you travel to, and then there are places that travel back with you, lingering in your senses long after you’ve returned. I believe that Sangam Farms in Bhilwara, Udaipur, belongs firmly to the latter. Tucked away in rural Rajasthan, this sprawling escape is where time slows, the breeze whispers in gentle murmurs, and the land feels like it’s holding you gently in its palms. When I first arrived at Sangam Farms, I was weary and sleep-deprived from two whole flights (and a car ride), carrying the dull weight of deadlines, anxiety and city static. By the time I left, I was carrying home a tote full of memories and a body restored to ease. That is the magic of this retreat — not performative luxury, but quiet, deeply felt rejuvenation.

Hailing a golf cart, I checked into the suite mid-afternoon after a refreshing welcome drink and a quick peek through the itinerary. The accommodations themselves could rival any high-luxury tented camp. Think rattan-wick chairs, softly glowing lamps, and Swiss canvas tents that echo a certain aesthetic yet remain firmly rooted in the rural fabric of Rajasthan. The beauty lay in its restraint — opulence in service of serenity, not spectacle. It is an invitation to simply be.

The luxury tents, with their rattan wicker chairs and lamps, carried that unmistakable desert-inspired elegance, but here it was rural, grounded, rooted in the rhythms of the land. It wasn’t opulence scrambling for attention; it was luxury dappling through texture, tone, and detail. The tent became my sanctuary, my holy escape for two nights—every shower a baptism, every quiet moment, a rediscovery. And while I had carefully curated my airport look the day before, I didn’t wear an inch of makeup while I was at the farms, only a bit of skincare, and somehow my face glowed brighter than it had in weeks. That’s what Sangam does—it nourishes you from the inside out.

My days at Sangam Farms drifted like poetry. Mornings stretched out lazily, the air scented with earth and grass, softened by the faint rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds. We perched out at the restaurant brunching over avocado toasts, puri-sabji, bread basket, a fruit platter, fresh juice and a portion of dosa. But this was only the beginning. By afternoon, we were gushing over Asian and Continental fares in glee.

Meals were strictly vegetarian — but never once did I miss otherwise. Each dish was both wholesome and indulgent, a celebration of freshness and flavour. From the Jaipur Kofta Curry (we recommend) and Dal Makhni to go with their assorted bread basket for dinner, to their Asian delights, the wood-fired sourdough pizza (god, I loved this), food was nourishment in those moments. Straight from the land to your table; they truly practice what they preach. And the cocktails? Yes, they will leave you buzzed in all the right places. Smooth and endearing, they pair beautifully.

However, if I had to crown a highlight, it would be their Tres Leches — a dessert so perfectly made that it deserves an ode. A bite of it carried the essence of Sangam Farms itself: sweet, rich, comforting, and unforgettable. This one must indulge in.

By late afternoon, the infinity pool beckoned — an expanse of water mirroring the endless horizon. I spent two evenings here, soaking until dusk blurred into night, music lilting in the background (yes, Lana Del Ray on repeat), the chorus of frogs and cicadas rising in sync. It was bliss, pure and unfiltered as the world beyond the farm blurred into nothingness. It just has a way with you, carrying oneself through the silence. Evenings unfurled into unexpected delights. One night, I found myself curled beneath a blanket, watching Kapoor & Sons beneath a canopy of stars — the kind of cinematic magic city life rarely allows, and as I strolled back to my tent lazily, my mind was a blank canvas awaiting a fresh start. Another evening, I took to the pickleball court, laughter and light-hearted play weaving into the fabric of my stay before I found myself in the infinity pool once again. That evening, it rained again. The Udaipur breeze was light. My last night there. Dinner was shared over peals of laughter and new memories etched out.

Somewhere between a lingering foot massage, a sunset swim, and staring at the horizon until my sight dissolved into nothingness, I rediscovered what it means to relax. And then, there is the land itself — Sangam Farms is not just a retreat, but a living, breathing ecosystem.

On walks through its acres, I discovered hydroponic farms, cattle rearing, and an intricate connection to village life. This was rural immersion, crafted with an aesthetic hand that never let go of comfort. Visiting their textile factory was a reminder that Bhilwara’s heritage is as deeply woven into cloth as it is into soil. It was luxury with integrity, where sustainability isn’t a buzzword but a way of being.

What makes Sangam Farms extraordinary is not just its setting or its design, but its ability to cut you off from the noise of the world and reconnect you with yourself. Here, rural life isn’t something observed from a distance; it is experienced, reimagined, and savoured. A retreat into a slower rhythm, a rural luxury that doesn’t compromise, a sanctuary where modern exhaustion is met with timeless calm. For anyone seeking to reset, to immerse, and to truly live slowly, Sangam Farms is where you’ll find it — in the rustle of fields, the shimmer of a pool at sunset, the taste of a perfect Tres Leches, and the silence of a star-studded night. I know I did.
