The Dream of Milan: Inside QC Rooms Porta Romana, Where Nature Meets Design

Stepping into the lobby of QC Rooms Porta Romana in Milan feels like walking into a blooming forest — a place where time slows down, and beauty breathes through every petal, every beam of soft light. The warmth of wooden floors, the lush embrace of floral wallpapers, and the scent of calm instantly transport you far from the urban rhythm outside. In this whimsical oasis, nature doesn’t simply decorate; it defines the experience.

This is not your conventional Milanese-style hotel. Here, innovation and elegance cohabit effortlessly. Forget the traditional check-in desk and the wait that usually accompanies it — QC Rooms has embraced digital ease with a fully automated check-in system. Documents are scanned, codes are assigned, and keys are a relic of the past. The experience is seamless: the reception desk dissolves into the design, quietly disappearing so that your stay can begin with the luxury of tranquillity, not transactions.

An Urban Refuge with a Soul

The philosophy behind QC Rooms Porta Romana is rooted in the idea that true well-being is an aesthetic experience. The QC brand, already synonymous with thermal luxury and sensory indulgence, brings that same ethos into an urban setting. Just a few steps from the iconic QC Terme di Porta Romana, the hotel extends the QC promise of regeneration — but this time, through design, atmosphere, and the small rituals of daily life.

A brief stroll through the hotel reveals a curated balance between comfort, creativity, and community. A serene relaxation area invites guests to pause between meetings or sightseeing, while the spacious co-working lounge, with its indoor and outdoor zones, captures the spirit of the modern traveler — productive, yet grounded in beauty. For moments of intimacy, there’s even a private cinema room, complete with six plush armchairs, where guests can book a personal screening — a private escape within an escape.

The Art of Living, Self-Served

In a refreshing departure from traditional hospitality, QC Rooms reimagines the hotel bar as a self-service experience. During the day, guests can help themselves to coffee, herbal teas, fresh fruit, and nuts — a gesture of freedom that feels at once casual and refined. As evening falls, the space transforms: fine spirits and Italian digestifs appear, inviting guests to linger over an aperitivo or enjoy one last nightcap before retreating to their private sanctuaries.

The Rooms: A Fairy Tale in Eight Floors

Across eight floors and 84 soundproof rooms, the magic continues. Each space is a world unto itself — intimate yet expansive, calm yet full of life. The design narrative extends the floral dream of the lobby into a more personal register. Plush textures and warm tones evoke the comfort of a luxurious hideaway, while details like spa-inspired amenities and a refreshing leg patch from the minibar speak to QC’s commitment to well-being in every sense.

Each room also comes with a FitWell Kit, an ingenious offering that includes a yoga mat and a liquid ball. Scanning the accompanying QR code opens a library of video tutorials, turning the room into a private fitness studio. It’s a thoughtful touch for travelers who value balance — proof that wellness can be both personal and playful.

Nature as Muse

But it’s in the details — the walls, the patterns, the visual storytelling — that QC Rooms reveals its most distinctive charm. Nature, one of QC’s core values, unfurls across the property in living color. Climbing plants and hanging greenery soften the ceilings, while at dusk, tiny glowing lights mimic the magic of fireflies dancing on a summer night. This delicate play of light and life transforms the atmosphere from merely elegant to enchantingly alive.

The sense of enchantment continues in the guest rooms, where exclusive wallpapers by the Italian stylist and designer Simone Guidarelli bring each space to life. For QC Rooms, Guidarelli reimagined two of his most iconic patterns — lush, dreamlike compositions of herons, giraffes, ostriches, Renaissance fountains, and oriental motifs that together tell a story of travel, imagination, and memory. The result is a visual narrative that makes every room a passport to another world.

The Visionaries Behind the Magic

“Every environment has the power to influence our state of mind and generate emotion,” says Andrea Quadrio Curzio, CEO & Chief Experience and Operations Officer of QC. “That’s why we design spaces that blend functionality with aesthetics, collaborating with talents who expand our perception of beauty, offering always new and unexpected perspectives.”

It’s this philosophy that drew QC to collaborate with Simone Guidarelli, one of Italy’s most distinctive creative voices. Born in the Marche region, Guidarelli came to Milan later in life — a city that would become both his muse and his canvas. His career began far from the world of fashion, but his innate eye for beauty led him to become one of Italy’s most respected stylists and fashion editors, as well as a creative consultant, image director, and influencer.

Guidarelli’s work is a conversation between nature, memory, and art. His aesthetic blends classical elements — tapestries, damasks, and the grandeur of European interiors — with a modern twist that feels alive and exploratory. He describes his creativity as a need “to fill the eyes with images,” drawing inspiration from travels, faces, and personal memories.

After years of working as a creative director on international campaigns and launching his own e-commerce brand, Guidarelli debuted his Home Collection in 2021-2022 — a line of furniture, textiles, and décor that merges exotic inspiration with contemporary Italian craftsmanship. It is from this universe that the QC Rooms collaboration was born.

Design as Emotion

For the Milan property, Guidarelli’s signature “Souvenirs de Voyage Bamboo” wallpapers wrap the 84 rooms in a poetic embrace, while his “Exotic Jungle” and “Souvenirs de Voyage” patterns adorn decorative plates and furnishings. The result is a space that feels both cultivated and spontaneous — like the home of a traveler with impeccable taste and an infinite imagination.

At QC Rooms Porta Romana, the boundary between hotel and art installation disappears. The experience is not about overnight stays, but about immersion — into beauty, into stillness, into the luxury of nature reinterpreted through design.
