Although introduced in a black and white swimsuit, she has been a part of the fashion industry and the ever-evolving trends that we just can’t seem to forget.

Inspired by the stylish Barbie doll, “Barbiecore” is a hyper-feminine fashion trend that is all about embracing vibrant hues (very, very pink but not limited to it.) When Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as real-life Barbie and Ken hit the theatres in 2023, the world saw a remarkable rise to all things pink and the “Let’s go Barbie” stance.
Even though Barbie’s dream and bold closet have inspired the very Pinterest-y and nostalgic “Barbiecore” fashion trend since the early aughts, the movie brought a whole new revolution that shows no signs of stopping. All the fashion enthusiasts seem to be enjoying the colourful, sunnier, carefree, feminine aesthetics.
Sabrina ‘Carpentercore’
Sabrina Carpenter has made herself a proper Y2K pop princess all thanks to her viral hits ‘Please, Please, Please’ and ‘Espresso’, and people are obsessed.
The Disney star tapped into the very famous ‘Barbiecore’ trend at the Lollapalooza stage in August 2023. Donning a pink ensemble – a heart-shaped bodice and a silky high-low hemline skirt, she looked like a real-life Barbie. Talk about making trends. The pop singer had makeup enthusiasts falling head over heels for her doll-like perfect makeup look. Dubbed the “Barbie Effect,” the beauty trend made people look unreal as if they were AI.
In April 2024, Sabrina Carpenter (with blonde hair and perfect body) collaborated with SKIMS for lacy apparel and soft everyday loungewear that captivated all who laid eyes on them. Channeling the ’90s for SKIMS’, her sultry underwear campaign was a hit.
Today the ‘Barbiecore’ craze is not just about sparkles, ultra-high pumps, hot pink ensembles, and purses, it’s in alignment with the ‘soft girl’ aesthetic. The soft makeup, feminine clothing, cute bows, pastel colors, and adorable accessories make it a true statement on feminism.
